The campaign for The James Forbes Academy continues to occupy centre-stage for the Scotch Foundation and the School.
Construction of the first stage is due to begin in August, and we look forward to the official opening in early 2002.
The progress total is approaching $6 million - all the more remarkable when there have been fewer than 250 donors so far (ranging from $25 to $1 million).
If even 500 others gave $2,000 each, we would be very close to our target. Does that seem too much to ask of a 15,000 strong community for one of the most exciting and ambitious projects ever embarked upon by an Australian school?
Nineteen rooms have been generously named for members of the Scotch Family (including past staff members Alec Lyne, John Bishop, Alec Fraser, Ian Harrison, Oscar Helms and Ron Shepherd).
Nearly 150 donors have accepted the opportunity to name one or more seats in the Music Auditorium or the Geoffrey McComas Theatre.
A pledge of $2,000 (which is fully tax deductible and can be spread over five years) may provide an opportunity for the school to extend an offer to name a seat. A plaque and honour book will recognise in perpetuity your connection with and loyalty to the School.
The Director of Development, Peter Crook confirmed recently that the campaign was moving into its final phase. Don't miss this chance to play your part in a monumental production for the future of Scotch and the arts.
Please take your seats!
