Scotch College

Sam recalls his first day

On the way to Scotch I felt excited and scared at the same time. My dad, Bruce told me about a bit of his schooling and experiences at Scotch, and said that I would get so many opportunities at Scotch in sport, and also in school work which helped me a bit, and made me more excited.

I was expecting Scotch to be tough to settle down and enjoy, but I settled in very quickly.

My first night at dinner I sat by myself and felt very lonely, but it didn't take long to find a few mates, have a hit of tennis and have lots of fun.

I experienced a very rushed and fast first day. The boarding house is full of some really good guys. It was hard to get in the routine of getting out of bed at the same time every morning and having dinner at 6 pm.

I have enjoyed the sport and the company here, but it was hard leaving my family. I'm looking forward to the challenges and experiences in the future.
