Since the formation of the Dramatic Society in 1916, Scotch has staged nearly 250 plays and musicals, giving thousands of boys creative opportunities in performance, backstage and administrative roles.
Following a successful May season of the Scotch-Ruyton Middle School play, Two Weeks With the Queen, Scotch and St Catherine's senior students are proudly presenting the Whistle Down the Wind. First produced in London in 1993 under the auspices of Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber, the musical is an intriguing Christmas tale of mystery, morality and double identity.
All members of the Scotch Family are warmly invited to see this significant new production (directed by Head of Drama Stephen Ritchie) on Thursday 22, Friday 23 or Saturday 24 July at the Stonnington Theatre (Somers Avenue, Toorak).
Please use the booking form in the leaflet enclosed with this issue. Scotch boys are also involved in another two senior productions this year.
The PLC-Scotch musical Pirates of Penzance is on 28-30 July at 8 p.m. in the PLC Hall (for tickets, phone 9808 5811), and the St Catherine's-Scotch play is Neil Simon's Rumours on 18-20 August at 8 p.m. in the Dorothy Pizzey Centre (for tickets, phone Michael Bond on 9828 3083).
Your active support of drama and music at Scotch - now and in the next few years - will help to ensure that The James Forbes Academy is bursting with creative activity from day one and lives up to its promise of being one of the foremost centres for educational performing arts in Australia.
