This year has proven to be a very successful one for the Cross-Country team. The season began with a five day camp at Cowes which was well attended and gave every member of the team the opportunity to set their own goals as well as broader goals for the squad as a whole.
As the season progressed it became apparent that Wesley, Xavier and Scotch were going to be the main forces in the APS competition.
In Round 4 we were fortunate enough to defeat Wesley which was a real confidence boost for the Cross Country Championships the following week.
At the Cross Country Championships we had a victory in the Under 15 division and won medals in the Under 16, Under 17 and Under 18 divisions. These combined results saw us finish second overall behind Marcellin College.
The best individual result was from Nick Miller who finished third in the Under 18. The team followed this result with another overall second in the Latrobe relays with victories in the Under 15 and Under 17 divisions.
Having come second in two major championships during the season, we approached the final APS round against the undefeated Xavier with a premiership hanging in the balance. Without captain Andrew Barker, a victory was always going to require some very special runs. All the Scotch team delivered and after some very exciting racing, we walked away from the race defeating Xavier by three points and a premiership under our arm.
Special mention should go to Andrew Krummins and Andrew Birch for great efforts in the final race. This was a fitting conclusion to an exciting season and all involved are to be congratulated.
