A parent support group for Basketball at Scotch, "The Slam Dunk Club", was founded in July and made a significant contribution to the success of the Basketball Presentation Night. The aim of the club is to raise the profile of the game at Scotch College through the building of a strong basketball community, to nurture and develop a love of the game at all levels, to provide opportunity for further development of the players within and outside of the school, to open new avenues for communication (website and newsletter) and to have some fun.
With the 2003 playing season now finished, committee members of the group are already planning for 2004, with a pre-season function scheduled for early 2004. Both the Club and the Teacher in Charge of Basketball will constantly update the Scotch Basketball webpage. Current information, events, the newsletter 'Great Shot!' and more will be posted regularly.
Through recognition of the potential of basketball at Scotch to grow with off-court support of parents, founding member, Ellen Eadie, initiated the formation of the group with a call for support in the inaugural issue of the Basketball newsletter 'Great Shot!'.
