Old Scotch Scuba Club

OS Scuba Club

It is almost the beginning of a new season, although firstly, let me reflect on the season that was. Several trips were made to Portsea this year and we have discovered some favourite dive sites within Port Phillip Bay, however, the highlight was definitely the dive camp that was held at Wilson's Promontory over the Easter weekend. It was a five-day camp attended by 16 of our members.

The boat had to be launched and retrieved from the beach, although after the first attempt, we had the exercise down to a fine art and were subsequently called upon by other dive charters to lend a helping hand. We visited several dive sites from our base at Tidal River, including some local islands. The area was rich in marine life and the largely rocky shorelines allowed for terrific visibility due to the lack of silt and sand. The camp was a huge success, being thoroughly enjoyed by all and will probably be the same next year.

This season is currently being planned by our members and promises to be even better than the last one. We will be holding introductory dives in the Scotch College pool and running another dive course. Please contact John Duck at s_c_u_b_a_scotch@hotmail.com for further information.
