Nine wins from ten matches has catapulted Old Scotch into the 2003 VAFA A Grade Finals series with much momentum. After a demoralising loss to Old Trinity in Round 8, the team has responded positively and will play Old Haileybury - the VAFA A Section First Semi Final on Sunday 31 August at Elsternwick Park. Renewed focus from the leadership group, a general lift from all players and a good run with injuries has seen the Club put itself in a position where it can approach the forthcoming finals series with confidence. Senior coach Dale Tapping is delighted with the performance of the side, but is aware that the hardest work is ahead of the team - "What we have done has been terrific, to turn the season around and put in solid efforts across the board. We now need to do everything we can to ensure that we give ourselves the best possible chance to succeed."

The senior team improvement has also been a result of improved performances by the reserves team. A greater level of commitment and improved depth has seen the reserves team be competitive against every other side in the competition. Reserves coach Serge D'Angelo puts it simply "When we commit and turn up ready to play, we can beat anyone."
