Wine Club's New Venture

OS Wine and Food

A lightning fast AGM of the Old Scotch Wine and Food Club on July 30 saw Hamish Long returned as President along with Robert Sinclair as Secretary. New committee-man Ian McLennan ('75) was elected Treasurer whilst James Boykett, Alan Shugg and David Thomson re-joined the committee.

After the formalities, Hamish introduced Simon Arms of Auscellardoor who, together with his team of Matt Paul and Nerida Robinson, managed the Club's "Big Reds" night.

Nine red wines were presented during the course of the evening, ranging from a very refreshing 2001 Riddoch Sparkling Shiraz from Coonawarra to the huge 2001 Ulithorne Shiraz from McLaren Vale. The Ulithorne and a 2001 Voyager Estate Shiraz from Margaret River were judged by many to be the wines of the night.

Breads from Phillippa's and two French and an Australian cheese from Richmond Hill Café and Larder complemented the wines perfectly.

Auscellardoor will work in conjunction with the Club to manage functions planned for the rest of 2003 and will develop a newsletter, conveying details of Club events and outlining wonderful wine deals for members.

Malvern florist Flos Florum and Hamish Long have generously become Club sponsors for what will be an exciting year. Now is the time to take advantage of what the Wine and Food Club, in partnership with Auscellardoor, has to offer.

Inquiries to Hamish on 0422 233 333.
