'We're very excited about the new school football season and hope to at least match our 1999 efforts', remarked 1858 Club President Mal Brown as he unveiled his group's season 2000 programme.
This year's activities will include support for the Northern Territory Football Development Tour, assistance for the promotion of football umpiring, as well as regular jumper and trophy donations. 'We are also delighted to be part of the project to erect a statue in Yarra Park to commemorate that memorable event in 1858', Mal added.
Already there has been keen interest in the club's Cordner-Eggleston Cup Breakfast on 18 May at the Grand Hyatt with Western Bulldogs coach Terry Wallace as special guest. 'Last year's breakfast was a sell out and people should contact Bruce Armstrong to reserve a table'. The club is also holding a Dinner Dance on Saturday 29 July at Leonda and hopes that parents from the various school teams will form tables. Contact Sally Slattery for further details.
