This year's Captain and Vice Captain of Drama, David Henning (left) and Dougal Beatty.
Following the many successes of last year, 2003 promises to be as exciting and entertaining a year as any for Scotch Drama. To be offered the position of Captain of Drama was a great honour and I accepted it with hopes of an enjoyable and memorable year. I know that I have some big shoes to fill when I think about those who have held the office in the past, but I am confident that, with the able support of Vice-Captain Dougal Beatty and the very talented boys who are involved in Drama, we can look forward to much success in the year ahead.
There are many school productions to look forward to, such as the Scotch/ PLC Senior Play, "The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui," in August; the Scotch/Ruyton Middle School Play, "Macbeth", and the Scotch/ PLC Junior Play, "The Jungle Book". Furthermore there will be a number of different presentations from all Drama classes over the course of the year, as well as the St. Catherine's/Scotch Senior play "Little Women", which will feature a number of Scotch boys. It will be well worthwhile to make the effort to see any or all of these productions.
Given the amount of work that all cast and crew will put in, means the promise of a most entertaining and enjoyable Scotch drama experience. I am looking forward with confidence to the continuing growth and development of drama at Scotch, including the professional input from our highly enthusiastic drama teaching and support staff. As we approach the end of the "Scout Hall era" and the advent of the "James Forbes Academy," the challenges of 2003 await us, and we look forward with eager anticipation to the year ahead.
