This special release is probably the final project in the sesquicentennial celebrations and is, to some extent, a wrap-up of those celebrations. A great deal of work over the past few months has gone into assembling many of the more significant historical items from the School Archives and records, items and scenes that best represent the character, texture, and culture of the College, as well as representing the 150th celebrations.
More than one hundred of these items have been photographed and digitally reproduced to the highest quality, and been set up on a professionally produced photographic collage representing the first 150 years of Scotch, to produce this Limited Edition Print. It contains copies of the portraits of all the Principals of the School. But perhaps the most 'collectable' items are the personal signatures of nine of the most eminent Scotch Collegians alive today, being
Three Governors-General:
His Excellency the Rt Rev Dr Peter Hollingworth ('51), Rt Hon Sir Ninian Stephen ('52) and Rt Hon Sir Zelman Cowen ('35).
Three State Premiers: Hon Jim Bacon ('67), Hon Jeff Kennett ('65), and Hon John Cain ('48).
Three surviving Principals: Dr Gordon Donaldson AM, Mr Phillip Roff, and Prof Richard Selby Smith.
Only five hundred prints will be produced, all numbered and certified, and all mounted with the nine original signatures, in a high quality gilt frame, approximately 600mm x 800mm: a proud momento of the Sesquicentenary. Cost $545 including GST. Orders can be placed with Mr Leigh McGregor, tel 03 9810 4302.
A preliminary 'mock-up', displayed around the School during October and November, created great interest, and advance orders for about 10% of the Limited Edition have already been received. However, the finished print is even more impressive, and much more widely representative of the 150 years.
The finished print is available for inspection in the foyer of the Randall Building, Morrison Street entrance, during school hours, commencing 1 February 2002, or by arrangement via the Scotch Family Association (Contact Sue Beaurepaire: ph 9818 7143); OSCA Office: ph 9810 4302; Ray Sneddon: 0407 308286: or Bill Tingate: 0407 232004.
