The Junior School Visual Arts curriculum for each year level comprises involvement with a wide range of media, skill development units and a fine arts focus. For example, this year the Year 6 boys attended 'The Italians' Art exhibition at the Museum of Victoria as part of their fine arts appreciation studies. The boys enjoyed seeing and discussing the diversity and themes of Italian art painted over three centuries. Food and lunch was an important part of their day, while looking also at the striking architecture of the Museum of Victoria and the heritage-listed Exhibition building. They continued to develop their skills in a 'Drawing' unit, particularly when they were challenged to sketch classmates 'surfing'. Year 6 boys always enjoy the quite different 'Threads and Textiles' unit, mastering the skills of French Knitting and Bead Weaving with looms. David Wollerman knitted a record 23 metres of French Knitting with his loom. His work has been stitched into a seat cushion.
