Course and Careers Services was pleased to host the inaugural Courses Expo in the Glenn Centre at Scotch College on Friday 18 October.
Representatives from all seven Victorian universities were in attendance as well as the Australian National University (Canberra), Bond University, International College of Hotel Management (Adelaide), Melbourne Institute of Business and Technology and Defence Force Careers.
The displays were very impressive, having moved on from the pamphlet and poster set ups to lap top computers, data projectors and even a working robotics display from Swinburne TAFE Engineering.
The Expo was an excellent opportunity for boys in Years 10 - 12 to glean information about prospective courses particularly if they had not attended the tertiary Open Days.
Year 10 boys visited the expo for an entire period before lunch. Over lunchtime many Year 12 students availed themselves of the opportunity to collect some last minute advice about options. Period 6 saw Year 11s at the Expo. The presenters commented favourably on the inquisitive nature and behaviour of the Scotch students.
Plans are already underway for another Courses Expo in 2003, probably in late Term 2.
