Now in our 45th year, Koomerang Ski Club has had another successful season at each of the four resorts where we have our own lodges.
It was gratifying to see that our lodge at Thredbo had finally recovered from the effects of the devastating landslide of 1997. With the necessity to close the lodge for a couple of seasons immediately after the tragedy, it was good to see that the lodge was again being well patronised by our members.
Mt Buller with its close proximity to Melbourne is where our largest lodge is situated with 42 beds available to our members and guests. It, along with Falls Creek with 16 beds and Mt Hotham with 8 beds, were all well patronised throughout the season.
Club championships were held at Mt Buller with the following results and congratulations going to;
A Grade Bruce Long
B Grade Guy Besley
C Grade Paul Aberdeen
D Grade David Pearson
Veterans Chris Darby
The Alkira-Koomerang Cup was unfortunately won again by the Alkira Ski Club for the third time in succession, but I believe a good time was had by all during and after the event.
With the summer period now upon us, many members will be taking advantage of the various activities and events that are available at the resorts. Golf, bushwalking, mountain bike riding, tennis, horse riding, the list goes on. Details of activities and upcoming events can be found by visiting our web site at http.//koomerang.com.au. and linking to the resort required.
Presently we have vacancies within our club for new members. Old Boys and Scotch schoolboys desirous of learning more about the club and becoming members of Koomerang Ski Club, can visit our web site where they will find information about the club, links to the various mountain resorts, and a membership application form which can be downloaded, completed and forwarded to the membership secretary for processing.
