Jim Forsyth (1976) - Rising to our recent challenge as to who first met Scotch's principals, Jim Forsyth (1976) asserts his claim to be one of the first three Old Boys to meet Dr Donaldson.
After five years at University Jim went overseas in 1982 with Peter Lithgow (1976) and spent the year backpacking.
When Peter's father Bruce Lithgow (1946), Chairman of the School Council, flew from London to Ulster on 8 May 1982 to interview Dr Donaldson for the principal's position, Jim and Peter went along, too.
'Dr Donaldson drove us to our hotel on the outskirts of Belfast and I still vividly remember the hotel security and barbed wire fence around its perimeter,' Jim recalls.
