The Bellarine Branch of OSCA met Sunday 28 July 2002 at Stoneacres Farm, Drysdale to continue another chapter in their impressive local history.
Honours for the day went to Leigh McGregor and Ros, who were welcomed and toasted for their significant contribution to Scotch and the Bellarine Branch during Leigh's time as Executive Director of OSCA. They were toasted by Alan Parton, ('56), who has shared a number of years with Leigh at Scotch and was able to give some insight into Leigh's legendary academic and sporting prowess. Leigh responded with a memorable 'Toast to the Haggis' and a speech which helped to relate Old Collegians to the life at the school at this moment.
Bellarine Branch was overseen by Leigh with the election of Alan Parton ('56) as President with John Christensen ('58), as secretary. They replaced long-time servants Ken Whitehead ('62), and Ian Parton ('51), who were thanked for their useful contributions.
The branch continued its tradition - another worthwhile donation to the Student Assistance Fund making a total contribution of several thousand dollars over recent years.
One balmy autumn evening on 22 March 2002, eighty-one members of the Scotch family were piped into Mornington Golf Club for an evening of fellowship and entertainment.
Our speaker for the evening, Dr Robert Moodie, Perelberg Award Winner and Executive Director of Vic Health, related how his organization has been instrumental in raising community awareness to health problems such as drink driving through he agency of TAC advertisements and skin cancer via the Sunmart campaign.
Bruce Brown, Head of Year 10 at Scotch, provided an inclusive report on the year's activities and highlights.
It was very pleasing to have former staff members David Boykett, Ken Evans, and Stan Brown amongst the attendees.
If there are any Old Boys who are not included on our mailing list, the committee would like to hear from you.
Many thanks to the organizing committee - Jim and Mary McCoy, Michael and Judy Caraher.
