We extend a very warm welcome to all members of the Scotch Family and their friends to our yearly Breakfast on the River Bank. We would especially like to see as many Old Scotch Collegians as possible to attend for what will be a most enjoyable morning.
Three new pairs are to be christened along with a new eight. There will also be a row past of crews.
The Head of the Yarra will start at Princes Bridge from 11.00am and one hundered and twenty crews from all over Victoria will row past our staging on their way to the Hawthorn Rowing Club on Bridge Road. This is a time trial and our first eight will be one of the first crews away. The total fleet will take about three hours to pass.
Please put this one in your diary - NOW!!!
The year 2003 will be the time for rowing supporters of Scotch College to come together and celebrate the 21st Birthday of the Cardinal Club.
On Saturday March 29, 2003 the 21st Birthday Celebratory Dinner will be held at Albert by the Lake, South Melbourne.
It will provide for reunions, including a 30 year reunion for the winning 1973 Head of the River crew, and presentation of the 1st VIII which will contest the 2003 Head of the River one week later. Feature events of the evening will be formal recognition of the great contribution Don Macmillan has made to rowing at Scotch, and the unveiling of the Scotch Australian Rowing Honour Board.
So whether you rowed in 1933 or are parents of the boys in the Boat Club of 2003, this will be a night not to be missed. Watch the next Great Scot for a flyer with booking details.
The Cardinal Club membership comprises over one hundred boys rowing at school, the ever growing Sunday Rowers group, a membership of over four hundred, and parents of past rowers. It endeavours to offer a range of occasions for members to make contact, and increase the opportunity for Old Boys and their families to continue rowing through the Cardinal Club.
To this end, the Cardinal Club has recently purchased an excellent set of second hand Cleaver Oars, to increase the competitive ability of a Cardinal Club VIII in its actions for the Masters Games at Ballarat in October, 2002.
