I am pleased to re-introduce the Old Scotch Scuba Club (O.S.S.C.). Since its establishment by Graeme Boykett (staff/'61) in 1978 the Club has allowed those boys who originally learned to dive at school to further enjoy the sport upon graduation. Today, the O.S.S.C. welcomes anyone with an interest in diving.
The re-emergence of the Club is due to the efforts of its new board. Graeme Boykett remains as President, John Duck ('96) is Secretary, Mike Raisbeck ('96) is Treasurer, David Hillgemann ('96) is the Diving Officer and Alastair Philp ('97) is the Training Officer.
Since the beginning of April the club has held 6 successful boat dives within Port Phillip Bay. Our dive destinations have included the South Channel Fort, a popular dive spot around part of Australia's WWI heritage, Pope's Eye, a horseshoe shaped rock formation located near the Heads and the Kelp Beds of Queenscliff and Portsea. Wreck dives are growing in interest and will be added to the agenda shortly.
The Club runs single and two-day weekend dives around the bay and provides limited equipment hire and tank refills at very low cost.
For those who are interested and have not dived before or are not qualified as an open water diver, the O.S.S.C. can organise a course, numbers permitting, or at the very least, point you in the right direction. For those who are certified and are interested in joining the Old Scotch Scuba Club please email the secretary, John Duck, at s_c_u_b_a_scotch@hotmail.com
