In Term 1, Ist Hawthorn Scout Troop visited the Powelltown/Warburton district for a three-day hike, with the Patrol Leader navigating each stage of the journey and organising the arrangements for lightweight cooking and camping in two-man tents.
Planned by Scout Leader Mr Daniel Casey and Assistant Scout Leader Mr Tim Byrnes, the hike was supported by members of the Venturer Unit, two members of the Rover Crew (Mat Lee and Mat Moore) and the Group Leader Mr Chris Taylor. Despite some overnight rain, the days were very pleasant for walking and the scenery was magnificent. The boys really enjoyed themselves and gained a great deal of outdoor experience.
