Senior Scotch College Army Cadets, the Unit 2IC, Major (AAC) Peter Riley, and the Commanding Officer (AAC) LtCol Tony Glover,
|
Twelve senior cadets, the Unit 2IC, Major Peter Riley, and LtCol Tony Glover travelled to Canberra as part of the Unit’s Promotion Course series that was being conducted at the school at end of the school year.
The group visited Parliament House and the Australian War Memorial and met with the RSM of the Australian Army, WO1 Woods, Lieutenant General Peter Leahy, AO, Chief of Army-Australia at Russell Headquarters and Brigadier Chris Appleton, Commandant, Royal Military College-Australia at Duntroon. It was also fortunate to have a recent graduate show us around RMC and ADFA.
The trip was an outstanding success and stimulating for all. The unit is thankful to General Peter Cosgrove, AC, MC, Chief of Defence-Australia, for coordinating the meeting with the Chief of Army, and to Brigadier Appleton.
The substantial amount of time provided by these very senior military personnel and the great interest they showed in the life of our cadets was greatly appreciated.
Subsequently, the Chief of Army has accepted the Principal’s invitation to review the 2005 Unit Tattoo on 11 November.
