Commemorative Website

An important part of Scotch College’s commemoration of its contribution to the First World War is a database concerning the service of its former students and staff. Starting with the 12 Old Collegians killed on or before the Gallipoli landing on 25 April 1915, it will expand until by the end of 2015 all 225 Old Collegians and staff who died in or as a result of the war will be represented on the database. In subsequent years it is hoped to expand the database to include as many as possible of the more than 1200 ‘Scotchies’ who saw service.

Each serviceman who died will have a page dedicated to his service, including information such as his background, unit, age, and place of burial – but also the story of each man’s service and any available photos and interesting documents from his service records.

Readers with additional information on any of the servicemen are encouraged to contact the school, by writing either to the school Archivist, Mr Paul Mishura or the chief author, Dr Mark Johnston via scotch@scotch.vic.edu.au .
