Senior School

Situated on a superb 27 hectare campus on the banks of Melbourne’s Yarra River, 9 km from the heart of Melbourne, the Scotch College Senior School offers challenging and coordinated programmes for boys from Years 7 – 12.

Scotch College is affiliated with the Presbyterian Church of Victoria and every effort is made to develop Christian ideals of citizenship and personal character within a Christian environment for learning. It is also a member of the Associated Public Schools of Victoria (APS).

The Senior School comprises 1460 boys, including about 160 boarders from within Victoria, interstate and overseas. The main entry point into the Senior School is Year 7; some boarders enter at Year 9 and Year 10.

For the first two years in Senior School, boys are taught by a small number of teachers, exposing growing minds to the complexities of a demanding and diverse curriculum, whilst providing all the care and support required in a new and challenging environment.

In the middle years of secondary education, Years 9 and 10, our boys consolidate the skills they have learned previously, whilst selecting from a wide range of elective courses. During this period, emphasis is placed on developing each boy’s initiative, self-discipline and organisational skills, as well as providing sound guidance and support in his moral and social development.

In Years 11 and 12, boys undertake the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE). Scotch College offers a broad selection of VCE courses which allows each boy to challenge himself, develop and pursue existing passions, and set up pathways that lead to numerous university and career opportunities, both within Australia and overseas.

Sports, Arts, Music and an Outdoor and Services Programme are also very much part of the Senior School experience.
