At the start of 2009 a purpose built shed was constructed and fitted out with the basic machinery required. The sea scouts. Have learnt how to take the lines from an existing boat and draw the plans. From these plans the frames (moulds around which to create the shape of the boat) were constructed and set up on a strong back frame upside down.
Sea Scout Group
The keel was laid and the strip planking commenced. Once the planking was complete (60 planks per side) the boat was fared and glassed on the outside and prepared to be turned over. The day came with much excitement and the se scouts were all given specific jobs.
The boat is now upright with the engine and mast step in place. Progress Will recommence in the new year with the planned launch on Family Day 2010. Progress will be updated on this site.
