1st Hawthorn Scout Troop

Venturers

The Venturer Unit meets at the Scout Hall on a Friday evening between 6.30pm and 9.00pm. The Venturer Unit includes female and male members. The Venturers take the responsibility to organise and plan a very exciting programme each year, with advice and guidance from the Leaders. They participate in activities such as white water rafting, bike rides, cross country skiing, hiking and surfing to name a few.

Venturers may choose to participate in activities run annualy by organistions such as Scouts Victoria, or Booroondara District. These include Anything Goes, Hoadley Hide, Victoria Gathering and Ventures, just to name a few. These are a great chance to meet new friends and catch up with old friends.

Several of the members choose to work towards obtaining their Queen's Scout Award. The Queen Scout Award requires over 250 hours of work and is presented to the Venturer by a representitive of the Queen.

Some of the boys in the Venturer Unit assist the Scouts on a Thursday afternoon and at Annual Camp. They are known as Youth Leaders (YL's).

Membership

Membership is open to boys and girls aged 14 to 17.
