Season 2009

Athletics is open to any boy who wants to compete. You don’t have to be the best; just have a desire to run, throw or jump and be prepared to take part in the training sessions. Every boy has the opportunity to compete in as many events as they want during the lead up meets each season and the APS team is chosen from these athletes. We compete in sprints, distance, jumps and shotput events and there are plenty of relay spots to fill. Each season there are always injury problems which create openings in the team, so the more depth we have in the squad, the better.

Junior athletics is run separately during the first 2 weeks of the season as a Form competition, but boys who are keen to join the Junior APS squad are encouraged to come to training and compete on Saturdays with the senior squad.

There are also roles to help with other activities during the season. If you are interested in joining this committee, or helping with Athletics please contact Jane Borthwick janeb3@tpg.com.au . Parents of athletes may also like to attend the “Coaches and Cheers” night on Friday 21st August.
