The Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE)
The academic programme at Scotch College leads to the two year Victorian Certificate of Education, which students undertake in Years 11 and 12. The subjects in the VCE are designed to stimulate and interest senior students, as well as to prepare them for tertiary study.
Assessments of a student's performance in their VCE subjects are used by universities for selection for their courses. Scotch College students have a proud history of outstanding achievements in the VCE; almost all our final year students are offered tertiary places.

Boarding at Scotch
The school's boarding facilities allow boys from rural Australia and overseas access to the outstanding education available at Scotch College.
Providing an integrated programme of accommodation and care, the boarding experience leads to the formation of life-long friendships and the development of independent study habits.
Approximately 30% of our 150 boarders are from overseas. Some are sons of expatriate Australians living in South East Asia and elsewhere; others are sons of families from countries such as Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong and Indonesia.

Applying for a place
Enrolments are considered only when the completed application form and payment of the administration fee are received.
Application forms, a fee schedule and further details about the school may requested by email: Admissions@scotch.vic.edu.au
The availability of a boarding place is usually confirmed up to 18 months before the year of enrolment. An Enrolment Fee and a Holding Fee are payable at this time.
Placement test
Before an enrolment is confirmed, students are usually required to complete a Placement Test and to provide a copy of recent school reports.
The test can be completed at Scotch College or at a number of centres overseas.
Students are required to be fluent in English and making sound progress in their academic work.
Student visa
When an enrolment is confirmed and fees are paid, parents are sent a Confirmation of Enrolment Form. This is taken to the Australian Embassy in order to apply for an Australian Student Visa.
Fees for International Students
In addition to fees payable for Australian students, an Overseas Student Charge applies for students who are neither Australian citizens nor permanent Australian residents ('Overseas Students').
This charge is in lieu of both Federal and State Government per capita grants, additional Government charges and extra administration costs. The charge also covers contributions to the Overseas Student Health Cover medical insurance scheme.
