Away was a wonderful success
This year, the PLC/Scotch senior play was the iconic Away, written by Michael Gow.
The play is set in NSW in the summer of 1967/68 and gives a snapshot of four very different families ‘enjoying’ their annual summer holiday. The topics covered ranged from family dysfunction through to mental and terminal illness. For a young cast, the girls and boys handled these weighty themes with great professionalism, respect and insight.
A fabulous cast from PLC complemented the six Scotch boys, who were equally fabulous – James Bolt, Tom Duffy, Andrew Elder, Adam Fitzgerald-Quirk and Nick Murrell (all Year 12) and Malachy Cole (Year 11).
The production was a wonderful success: it touched on many serious issues which the cast handled and delivered with much maturity with the aid of the director, Mr Paul Wentford from PLC.
