Cardinal Club makes its presence felt
The Cardinal Club had a very successful presence at Scotch Family Day on Saturday 10 September. The merchandise tent was busy, and club members also gave out information to many parents of prospective rowers. Two ergos were set up under the Scotch rowing tent for the one-minute challenge, and there was fierce competition among the boys and quite a few Old Boys and parents. There was considerable interest from boys in Years 7 and 8, many of whom had several attempts at the challenge – a good sign for the future of Scotch rowing.
On Saturday 26 November, the official opening day of the rowing season, a large group gathered at the Cardinal Pavilion for breakfast or coffee. Later that day the Head of the Yarra was rowed upstream over 8km by 200 crews from the city to Hawthorn Rowing Club. It was a magnificent spectacle and well worth watching from any vantage point on the river, especially the Scotch landing.
Important dates for 2012 include the Scotch Mercantile Regatta at Nagambie on Saturday 17 March; the Don Macmillan Lunch at the Cardinal Pavilion on Wednesday 21 March; and the Head of the River at Nagambie on Saturday 24 March.
