New coaching era for Old Scotch Football Club

After an extensive search and review process, in October the Old Scotch Football Club appointed Dean Anderson and Stuart Powell as co-senior coaches for the next two years.

Both Dean and Stuart have substantial Victorian Amateur Football Association coaching experience. Dean also had a successful 150-game AFL career at Hawthorn and St Kilda, which included premiership success, and has coached Caulfield Grammarians in the VAFA to premiership glory. More recently, he has been head coach of the VAFA’s Victorian representative team, where his achievements have been considerable, demonstrating an outstanding knowledge of the game. Dean is married to Fiona and has three children.

Stuart was a decorated junior footballer whose career was curtailed by injury. His coaching career is substantial and includes a deep knowledge of Associated Public Schools, TAC Cup and VAFA football. His passion, integrity, leadership and development capacities have been known to many in our community for some time. His most recent appointment was as senior coach at St Kevin’s Old Boys Football Club, where he impressed with his ability to build culture and structure.

The club’s senior coach for the past four seasons, Peter Banfield, did not seek re-appointment for the 2012 season. Old Scotch Football Club is most grateful for the commitment, endeavour and integrity Peter brought to the club, and wishes him success in his new appointment as senior coach of the Blackburn Football Club in the Eastern Football League.
