OSCA Coterie group gathers momentum

Old Boys are invited to join the OSCA Coterie Group, and contribute to a great celebration of the association’s centenary.

MR PETER JOYCE (’56) – CONVENOR, OSCA COTERIE GROUP

Greatscot _may 2012_65a

The OSCA Coterie Group was launched late last year, and Old Boys have been encouraged to join during the first half of this year to gain full value from the many benefits of membership. All Old Boys will benefit from the Coterie Group: funds raised will enable OSCA to provide members with many special experiences between now and the conclusion of the centenary year in 2013.

Without further payment, Coterie Group members will become fully involved in all these activities and forge a closer and more enriching bond with their Old Boys’ association. Group members will also receive a number of privileges not normally afforded to past Scotch students.

A strong Coterie Group is providing OSCA with the financial capacity to launch a fully documented history of its first 100 years, including the recognition of 100 of its most famous Old Boys, and to confidently plan a number of gala celebratory functions to be held throughout 2013.

As well as facilitating these most important and memorable activities, Coterie Group members are supporting the establishment of OSCA’s Life Transitions Programme, which is directed at providing assistance to all latter year Scotch and Old Scotch boys as they progress through life.

Coterie Group members’ involvement, support and generosity will be fully recognised at all OSCA activities. They will be provided with special facilities to meet immediately prior to major OSCA functions, and they will have the opportunity to meet the school’s senior personnel to discuss matters of interest. They will also receive a special identifying lapel badge, a plaque in Old Scotch Square at the Morrison Street entrance to the school, recognition in Great Scot, and of course a signed copy of the OSCA history, With a Keen but Loving Eye.

At the time of writing the Coterie Group has 58 members, whose names are listed in this edition of Great Scot. These members have provided us with the support OSCA needs to proceed in 2013 with its centenary activities, and will be feted accordingly. We are extremely grateful for their support and contribution.

It’s not too late! Old Boys are still welcome to join the Coterie Group. Please consider joining sooner rather than later, to gain maximum benefit from the free OSCA events to which you will receive free entry, and the special activities in which you will be privileged to participate. We look forward to you joining us in this most exciting activity.
