Swap Shop

Scotch has both a Junior School Swap Shop and a Senior School Swap Shop where you can buy and sell your preloved School summer, winter and sports uniform. Items must be freshly laundered, or dry cleaned, and in good to excellent condition. The Senior School Swap Shop is located at 4 Morrison Street, Hawthorn (opposite the Randall Building). The Junior School Swap Shop is located in the Junior School in Callantina Road, Hawthorn.

A committee of parents run the Swap Shops as a service to the School community. Parent volunteers assist on a roster basis (approximately one two hour shift per month) to process the clothing for sale and staff the Swap Shop during opening hours.

The Senior School Swap Shop is open every Wednesday morning during term time from 8.00 am until after recess (approximately 11.30 am). The Junior School Swap Shop is open every Wednesday morning during term time from 8.00 am until 9.30 am. Other special opening times may be advertised in the Junior School newsletter or for Senior School, in the MyScotch 'Parents' section of the web site.

Sales and Purchases: The Swap Shop operates on account only basis (no cash sales). When you make a purchase from the Swap Shop you will need your son's school number. Purchases are then charged to your account. House polo tops, good quality long-sleeved white school shirts and grey summer shorts are only accepted as donations. All other items can be donated or consigned for sale.

Consigned items sold are credited to your School account. You will receive two-thirds of the sale price. If you are consigning a blazer and wish to keep the pocket, Swap Shop can sell the blazer without the pocket.

Blazer hire:  The Senior School Swap Shop has blazers for hire for special events.

Use of Swap Shop Funds: The Senior School Swap Shop retains the money from items donated and one-third commission on sales. The money is then distributed to various projects around the school. In previous years, funds raised by the Swap Shop have assisted scholarship, exchange and Indigenous students, World Vision projects supported by the school, projects which have the potential to benefit a wide range of students (and meet the broader educational goals of students) via contributions to purchases made by other SPA groups and other aspects of school life at the discretion of the Swap Shop committee. The funds from the Junior School Swap Shop are used by the JSPA for various projects within the Junior School.
