Dinner in March a Main Event!

Having been proudly associated with Scotch, man and boy, for 66 years, I have lost count of the number of School dinners I've attended. However, I know there is one to which I'm looking forward, perhaps more than any other: the spectacular Dinner on the Main on Saturday 24 March 2001.

Jacky Wong Grade 5 One of the 'pillar' events of our 150th anniversary celebrations, the Dinner will be held in a grand marquee on the Main Oval. This unprecedented occasion is unlikely to be repeated for another 50 years. It will feature a haggis ceremony "wi' a' the honours" and a first and final reappearance by Scotch's founder the Rev. James Forbes, but formalities will be kept to a minimum.

The emphasis will be on fine fare, fellowship, fun and festivity for Old Boys, parents, friends and guests. Music and dancing will complete a magical night; and to top it off, daylight saving ends at 2 a.m., affording an extra hour's sleep to those who wish to take advantage of it!

A Monumental Evening

Dinner conveners Astrida Cooper and Louise Ayre have already spent countless hours preparing for this monumental evening. We are also most grateful to our Sponsor of the Year, ULR Land Rover Melbourne, our major sponsor Mercedes Benz Australia and various table sponsors: without their generous support, the unique experience of Dinner on the Main would have been prohibitively expensive.

Applications will only be accepted on the adjoining tear-off sheet, and full payment and names must be included. Some 600 lucky members of Club 150 have already had several weeks' priority booking, and there are expressions of interest from interstate and overseas, so I do urge you to book as soon as possible.

You can make a group reservation (up to a table of 10), but individual bookings are also most welcome: we'll make every effort to place you on a compatible table. If you require further information about the event please call 9810 4300.

As you'll see from the exciting brochure enclosed with this issue, there are many special events and activities in 2001 to tempt all members of the Scotch Family. Please mark favoured dates in your diary now, remember to book in plenty of time for each event, and make the most of Celebrating the Vision!
