Foundation's new Director appointed

Alan Watkinson

At the end of this year Mr Peter Crook retires from his role as Director of Development and Executive Director of Scotch College Foundation. Under his direction the Foundation has earned a reputation as one of the most effective school based fundraising bodies in Australia.

The quest for a successor saw a large field of applicants from around Australia. Following an intensive selection process it has recently been announced that Mr Alan Watkinson has been appointed.

Alan Watkinson is already well known within the Scotch community where he has been Head of English since1985. Under his leadership the department flourished and is well recognised for the high quality of its courses and teachers, and consistently excellent VCE results. Alan has also served Scotch in a wider capacity, as Acting Director of Research and Development for one year and on many of the school's curriculum and other committees. He has also contributed to sport, in particular Rugby and Squash, to the Services programme, where he inaugurated the highly regarded Year 10 leadership courses, and he has wider interests in music and drama. In welcoming the appointment, Foundation President Campbell McComas said,

'Alan's deep knowledge of and commitment to Scotch, his outstanding communication skills and warm and engaging personality, and his obvious passion for his new role, will stand him, the Foundation and the School in excellent stead as we begin to build on the magnificent legacy of Peter Crook.'
