Is Scotch the greatest VFL/AFL nursery?

Has Scotch produced more VFL/AFL players than any other school? All is revealed ...

WORDS: Mr Paul Mishura – Scotch College Archives

The September 2010 Great Scot named the first 66 Scotchies who played VFL/AFL football. Xavier College has 112 players, Melbourne Grammar School has 136 and Assumption College has 148. Does Scotch top these figures? While Scotch is proud of her sons who have made it to the top in Australian football, it should be acknowledged that Scotch has always been a bigger school than Xavier or MGS. While Scotch has a Brownlow Medallist, Bill Morris, Geelong College had its second by 1962, and with Chris Judd’s second Brownlow this year, Caulfield Grammar School has three Brownlows. While some Scotchies have contributed little on the big stage, others have contributed a lot. Who knows which boy now fighting for the cardinal gold and blue will one day add his name to this list of achievers? Will it be you?
