Success for Pipes and Drums club

WORDS: MR STEWART WALLACE ('71)

To attract the best bands to Melbourne’s annual Anzac Day march, the Victorian RSL presents awards to the top three bands.

Old Scotch Pipes and Drums has now played in three Anzac Day marches, and the band was this year somewhat hopeful that it might scrape in for an honourable mention, especially as the competition included several top-ranked bands.

So the announcement that Old Scotch had this year taken out first place came as a huge surprise! Quickly recovering their composure, our two representatives were extremely pleased to accept the coveted award.

We now have our first ‘winning’ certificate hanging on the wall of Pipe House, hopefully spurring on the boys – the young and the not-so-young – to go after further accolades on behalf of Scotch.

Old Scotch Pipes and Drums not only provides a distinctly Scottish flavour at a wide range of OSCA events, but, along with the school Pipe Band, serves to extend general recognition of Scotch within the broader community – while stirring the aspirations of prospective students and their parents.
