Soccer kicks off

Season 2013 promises to be another big one for the Old Scotch Soccer Club, following solid performances across all five teams in 2012 and the success of our 30th anniversary celebration.

The obvious highlight is the return to our home ground at H A Smith Reserve in Hawthorn. Work on the ground itself is now complete, with the first training session held at the start of April. Preliminary work has also commenced on the new pavilion, which should be ready for the 2014 season. At the time of writing, the seniors and reserves were raring to go for the start of the soccer season on 6 April after a promising pre-season, with a number of new faces down at the club. The Thirds Old Boys' Cup (which includes teams from Old Melburnians, Old Xaverians, Old Camberwell Grammarians, St Kevin's Old Boys and Old Trinity Grammarians) was due to be held on 7 April.

The club was also looking forward to its inaugural Ladies' Day, scheduled for Saturday 20 April, with all ladies involved with the club invited to come down for a glass of champagne on arrival and nibbles, while watching the seniors and reserves in action.

All members of the Scotch community are encouraged to come down to lend their support. Keep an eye on the club website at www.ossc.com.au for updates, including fixture details.
