Two teams from Year 7 participated in the da Vinci Decathlon regional round on 16 May at Overnewton College, with one team placed first and the other equal third. The boys had a great day of challenge and teamwork, thoroughly enjoying the range of experiences.
The team placed first went forward to the da Vinci state final on 24 May at MLC, in which they were placed fifth in Victoria, winning the General Knowledge discipline.
The boys were well supported by four Year 12 Extension Studies Prefects — Daniel Tao, Connor O’Brien, Michel Nehme and Matthew Munday — who trained the boys in some of the Decathlon disciplines.
Congratulations to the state final team, which won four of the 10 disciplines — Creative Producers, Maths, General Knowledge and Code Breaking — and came second in Science and Philosophy. The team members were Richard Liu, Andres Buritica Monroy, Jason Chi, Charles Heyburn, Jesse Goldie, Thomas Heerding, Charlie Landau and Max Fan.
The team which achieved equal third in the regional round gained second places in Cartography, Maths and Science (tying with the other Scotch team in Science). Team members were Joshua Li, Justin Sheng, Eddy Yang, Wilson Cheng, Ethan Coleman, David Nawaratne, Dom Scott and Nischal Vivekananda.
