2017 Science Oration
Professor Andrew Holmes AC AM delivered the 2017 Science Oration. Professor Holmes is the President of the Australian Academy of Science and a member of the Scotch College Council.
A student at Scotch and a member of the Class of 1961, he was a school prefect and a member of Monash House.
After leaving school, he completed a BSc and MSc at the University of Melbourne and then earned a PhD in Chemistry at University College, London and later became Professor of Organic and Polymer Chemistry at Cambridge University.
In 2004 he returned to Australia as a Fellow at Melbourne University and the CSIRO. Professor Holmes is an internationally acclaimed leader in the science of light emitting polymers and in biologically active materials.
Professor Holmes presentation was titled “Printed Plastic Solar Cells: A Licence to Print Money”.
