2019 Autumn Concert

The senior ensembles performed at the first of the Autumn Concerts.

The Symphony Orchestra played the 'Danse Bacchanale' by Camillie Saint-Saëns and 'Le Tombeau de Couperin' by Maurice Ravel. 'Academy Strings' played the Rutter Suite for Strings, the first movement of Grieg's 'Holberg Suite' and the 'Hoedown' from 'Rodeo' by Aaron Copland. The Symphonic Wind played 'Fivefold' by Michael Oar and 'Can You Dig It' by Brian Tyler arr. Steven Walker. There were also performance by the College Choir and Chamber Choir. 

The intermediate ensembles followed on the Thursday evening.

The Ted Joyner Band played 'The Legend of Castle Armagh' by Paul Murtha and 'Forget You' by Bruno Mars, the Intermediate Concert Band played 'Scenes of Russia' by Elliot Del Borgo and the fun 'Baby Elephant Walk' by Mancini and the George Dreyfus Band played an excerpt from Carmina Burana by Carl Orff as well as 'Apollo Arise' by Travis Weller. Then the Intermediate Orchestra performed 'Warrior Legacy' by Newbold and the Henri Touzeau String Orchestra gave renditions of 'After the Rain' by Susan Day and 'Orange Jam' by Jeffrey Bishop. The Cambiata Choir, compiled of boys with changing voices sang 'Et in Terra Pax' by Mary Lightfoot followed by 'Thankful' by Sager, Foster and Page, before the gospel mix of Elijah and Joshua arranged by Albrecht. The Morrison Big Band with 'You raise me up' and 'Crazy Train' and the Callantina Swing Band with 'I heard it through the grapevine' and 'Wizard Wheezes' closed out the evening.
