Awards in Mathematics

Recent results from the Mathematics department:

 

The Australian Mathematical Olympiad:

100 Australian students were invited to participate and this included three Scotch boys.

 

Senior Australian Mathematical Olympiad Committee Contest:

79 students were invited to take part in this contest, including three Scotch boys.

 

The University of Melbourne Mathematics Competition:

This competition comprises a small number of challenging questions in either junior, intermediate or senior divisions. Scotch was the best represented school amongst the winners or awards and prizes.

 

A boy in Year 7 won second prize in junior division of Melbourne University Maths competition.

A Year 12 boy won a bronze certificate in the Mathematical Olympiad.

Another Year 12 boy won a silver certificate in the Mathematical Olympiad and third prize in the senior division of the Melbourne University Mathematics competition.

While a Year 11 boy won silver in the Mathematical Olympiad and a bronze in the Olympiad Committee contest and  a Year 10 boy won a silver award in the Olympiad Committee contest, placing him in the top 20 mathematicians up to and including Year 11 throughout Australia.
