2014duces

Head of Littlejohn House Mr George Patouras (second left), Head of Gilray House Mr David Brown, Principal Mr Tom Batty, Head of Eggleston House Mr Warwick Hall and Head of Lawson House Mrs Pauline Westmore celebrate the achievements of Michael Mao (left), Alexander Ritter, Zhengyang (Daniel) Liu, Richard Yan and Paul Colman in scoring the maximum ATAR score of 99.95, and being appointed joint duces for 2014.

From securing a VCE to achieving the maximum ATAR, these are fine results from an exceptional group.

At this time of the year, we quite rightly pause to celebrate such examination results which open the doors to post school life. We do so, however, secure in the knowledge, that, as memories of historical dates and mathematical techniques fade, the principles and fundamentals which will support future judgements have been nurtured upon more enduring foundations.

Throughout their Scotch journeys - be it in a classroom, amongst an orchestra, beneath stage lights or in the middle of an oval, or when pursuing an idea, debating a position or taking up a cause - the young men of the Class of 2014 have turned interests to passions and sought to influence for the greater good.

With good grace and humour, they have displayed the independence of mind and desire to collaborate across communities that will define their century. In so doing, they have left us convinced, that, with this generation, our future is in good hands.

Congratulations and thanks go to all involved: boys, staff and parents.

To the Class of 2014, best wishes for all that lies ahead: for the times of exploration and for the times of contribution. It has been a privilege to share this stage of your life and to see those things which make each of you distinct grow and flourish.

We look forward to welcoming you back to your school and discovering where your talents and imaginations have taken you.
