Congratulations to the Class of 2018

The congratulations of all in the Scotch community go to the boys of the Class of 2018 for fine VCE and ATAR results that speak strongly to their resolve and talents, and their capacity to embrace the future with purpose.

In celebrating such accomplishment as listed in the tables below, we are conscious, that, popular though such measures may be, the real analysis of success lies at the level of each boy across the rich canvas emanating from our non-selective entry. We are also acutely aware that whilst a life of the mind can ponder solutions to the weightiest of problems, it is by living in the field that boys bring their talents to bear. Enveloping each boy’s results is a particular Scotch story that will resonate far longer and more profoundly than any collection of scores arrayed in rank order.

With empathy, artful invention and no small dash of panache, those of the Class of 2018 have grasped opportunities to explore, hone and share interests and talents. They have emboldened with the ingenuity and dexterity of their generation and enlightened with the open connectivity of their age.

Perhaps most importantly, from Memorial Hall addresses to post-match handshakes, via thoughts shared in Ballarat Specialist School classrooms, and steps hiked for the Tiwi College Boys’ Academy, the graduating boys have held true to our belief in the inherent dignity of each person. In so doing, they have convinced that they will pick up the baton and do their bit in building something better for those to follow.

Such confidence is testament to the care, craft and perseverance of many, and my thanks and congratulations go to all involved: boys, members of staff and parents.

To the Class of 2018: you leave with our sincere thanks and best wishes for all to come. It has been a privilege to share these years with you and see you revel in a freedom gained by so many, at such cost. Your best years lie ahead of you and we want to know what you make of it all. When the time is right, come back, fill in the gaps and share your stories.
