End of Year 12 for the Class of 2017

Presentation Night was the first of several official school occasions which paid tribute to this year's cohort of Year 12 boys. Boys received a Bible and book of poetry, and academic achievements were acknowledged. The guest speaker, Adrian Li ('09) drew analogies between his area of expertise working as a software engineer in robotics for Google, and an approach to life. He encouraged boys to gather data, learn from things that don't go to plan, and to not be afraid of taking bold steps. The Perleberg award this year went to Fraser Sutherland ('17) in recognition of his work with World Vision in Zambia, the indigenous program in the Tiwi islands and his volunteer work on the forthcoming Sony camp which provides relief for parents who have severely handicapped kids.

The following day the Year 12 boys joined other senior school boys in the Memorial Hall for the Torch Ceremony, where the lit torches are passed between leaving students and teachers, while the school songs are sung.

This year Mr Peter Rickard, Mr Sam Black and Mrs Donna Del Porto were fondly farewelled as retiring members of staff, having served the school for many years.

In the evening, the Valedictory Dinner provided a chance for parents, boys and staff to gather and reminisce and celebrate the end of the school days for this group of Year 12s.
