Farewell to Class of 2018
The Presentation Night, Torch Ceremony and Valedictory Dinner provided opportunities for the Year 12 cohort to be farewelled.
Mr Justin Crawley, CEO of Thamarrurr Youth Indigenous Corporation addressed the boys, parents and staff at the Presentation Night, encouraging the Class of 2018 to make the most of the opportunities ahead of them, quoting the saying that life is ten percent about what happens and ninety percent how we react to it. The Lirrga Ceremonial Dance Group performed, celebrating particularly the graduation of a Scotch boy who grew up in their community in Northern Territory. Greg Munar, the leader of this group, presented the prizes.
Tim Morris ('89) was awarded the Perelberg Award for 2018, in recognition of his good service, particularly working as Head of Food Security and Natural Resources for World Vision. During this time he worked with the World Bank, Australian Government and a range of European Governments. Some highlights included establishing energy efficient stoves in over 100,000 households and restoring a water catchment area for a further 50,000 of the world’s poorest rural families - achievements awarded by the United Nations and the Swiss Gold Standard Foundation as world-class sustainable development programs.

In the traditional Torch Ceremony boys and staff leaving the school were able to pass on the torch of learning while the school songs were sung. Mr Mark Mason, Dr John Jackowski, Mr Nick Pacitti, Mr Luke Jiang and Mr Mike Smith are retiring and their contributions were acknowledged. The Class of 2018 also presented a generous cheque to the school.
The Valedictory Dinner was another emotional event, including the opportunity for boys to dance with their mothers as well as final farewells and toasts between boys, staff and parents. Mr Michael Waugh shared two songs which related to boys growing up and The Cardinals and Pipe Band performed.
