Opening of Sir Zelman Cowen Centre for Science
The Sir Zelman Cowen centre for Science was opened by The Hon Dr David Kemp, Chairman of the Scotch College Council, in the presence of Lady Cowen on the 165th anniversary of the foundation of the school.
It is hoped that the centre for science will equip boys with the essential skills and knowledge to be ready for a lifetime of curiosity and enterprise. The laboratories and conversational learning spaces will enable a fusion of scientific disciplines.
Sir Zelman Cowen is celebrated at Scotch for being the first Old Scotch Collegian to become Governor - General of the Commonwealth of Australia. The school was honoured that Lady Cowen, and members of the Cowen family, were able to join in the opening ceremony.
