Scotch helps close the gap

10 years after the Close the Gap campaign started there is still much to be done to support indigenous Australians. Through talks in assembly and discussions in tutor groups, Scotch boys have considered the inequality that exists between indigenous and non-indigenous people, particularly in health and education.

Supporting our partner school, Tiwi College, Scotch raised money through our casual clothes day and the 24 Hour Hike.

This year's 24 Hour Hike was conducted in the state forest around Mt Disappointment. The average distance hiked was 63.2 km. 13 boys managed to break the illusive 100 km, including a Year 9 boy who hiked 100.4kms. The furthest distance hiked was 105.4 km. Around $30,000 was raised for the Boys Academy Room Project at Tiwi College.
