Start of Term 2 Message from the Principal
Dear Parents and Guardians,
In welcoming you to the start of Term 2, I inform, and remind, of a number of matters.
To keep parents and guardians informed of, and equipped for ready access to, the many resources the School has developed, and will continue to develop, to support families during these times, an alphabetised directory has been established on the website. Under the banner Directory of Resources for Remote Learning, the list can be accessed from the homepage (from where certain resources will require firewall login) or, beneath similar banner, from the Parent landing page https://www.scotch.vic.edu.au/my-scotch-parents.aspx (from where, subsequent to login, all parental information can be directly accessed).
Scotch staff have, with professionalism and passion, committed to maintaining standards of teaching and learning, and care for boys in this changed environment. We will continue to review and refine our operations over the days and weeks to come. The initial survey of boys at the end of the four day period of remote learning at the end of Term 1 provided useful information for the planning and revision of our offering in this environment. To similar end, further surveys will be conducted with boys, parents and staff at the end of Week 2 of this Term.
As noted in earlier correspondences, the School is open, for daytime (8.30am – 5pm) supervision, to all boys whose families, for any reason, feel they cannot provide appropriate conditions for online learning at home. Such boys will study online under teacher supervision while observing social distancing requirements. Notice of such need, and whether it is ongoing or for specified duration, should be provided, at the soonest opportunity, to your son’s Head of House (Upper School boys) or Form Teacher (Middle School boys). For such communication regarding Junior School boys, please e-mail the Junior School office.
The School remains cognisant of the strains and demands being placed on families in these times, and that such pressures are likely to intensify as the days pass. It is the School’s firm intention to maintain channels of support and to have the boys back in their School as soon as is sensibly possible.
Your continued support of the School is greatly appreciated. The care and consideration shown throughout the Scotch community for those in need speak strongly to the values of our foundation.
Yours sincerely,
I Tom Batty
Principal
