This temporary 0.4 FTE position for Term 4, 2019 involves teaching Indonesian to classes at Year 8 and Year 11.

Scotch College is seeking to appoint an exceptional educator to the following permanent full time position from the start of 2020.

Head of Centre for Learning

One of Australia’s leading independent schools for boys, Scotch College is renowned for its innovation in pedagogy, exceptional teaching and learning facilities and its commitment to offering a broad education to develop each boy to his full potential.

Scotch College has a contemporary and inclusive vision for academic support, with a focus on point of need, in-class support and a range of programmes that improve academic achievement and promote curiosity amongst boys of all ability levels. To support this vision, the School has established a Centre for Learning as a home for its academic support and extension studies programmes. The Centre for Learning also houses a high quality library service.

With responsibility for academic support programmes across the Senior School, including individual learning plans, and leadership of Centre staff, the ideal candidate will be an outstanding teacher with extensive experience and formal qualifications in the areas of specific learning difficulties/special education.

The Head of Centre for Learning will have a passion for inspiring boys across the full range of ability levels, experience in working productively with school psychologists and the capacity to lead a diverse team of specialist teachers and support staff. Experience in the use of educational assessment tools and their interpretation is an essential element of the role. The Head of the Centre for Learning will carry a 0.2 FTE mainstream teaching load.

To be successful, candidates must have:

  • formal qualifications in the areas of specific learning difficulties/special education;
  • the ability to provide inspirational academic, strategic and operational leadership;
  • an established track record of improving learning outcomes; and,
  • a track record of success as a classroom teacher in at least one academic discipline.
