Year 7 Curriculum

Year 7 is an important transition year from Primary Education to Secondary Education. Boys are exposed to a wider range of subjects than encountered during their primary years, commencing studies in the core subjects of English, Mathematics, Science, History, Geography, two Modern Languages (from French, German, Chinese, Indonesian and Italian), Music, Art, Drama, Design and Technology, Christian Education and Physical Education.
The Core Skills program, with its emphasis on the Habits of Mind as a vocabulary for the classroom, the school yard, the stage and the sporting field, is incorporated within teaching, Pastoral Care, Camps and Outdoor Learning experiences. Developing an awareness of Digital Citizenship and improving study and time management skills are just two elements of this dynamic program.
Year 7 boys are grouped in “Forms” for the majority of their subjects. Teachers of Year 7 are organised in groups of “Teams” consisting of three, but sometimes four teachers. Team teachers teach the subjects of English, Mathematics, Science, History and Geography in each Form and work together to share strategies that will assist each boy in his learning.
